Save the Mythical Creatures was founded in 1987 by two Harvard biology majors Julia Sahnz and Fibha Kaan. It all began when the pair were out gathering evidence of Medusa in Greece. While searching for traces of her existence, high in the Pindus mountains, the two noticed a pair of footprints that they had never seen before. They decided to change their plans and began to seek out the animal who the footprints belonged to. After months of tracking, Kaan and Sahnz came across a trail of clues that led them to Mt. Lygkos. There, they made the first modern-day encounter with a pegasaurus. The two were blown away by the magnificent pegasaurus and became its friend. After some time they were led to the home of the pegasaurus and it soon became clear that the population of pegasauri was slowly dying. Knowing that such an amazing creature was endangered, Julia Sahnz and Fibha Kaan decided they had to do something to stop them from becoming extinct. So on June 1st 1987 the girls founded "Save the Mythical Creatures" an organization dedicated to saving the pegasaurus and other mythical creatures alike.

Our organization has had a hand in helping many other creatures besides the pegasaurus. We have been involved with the conservation of the mythical creatures such as the ghart, poffiner, gola, sherpi and tyranifly. Some of the non-mythical creatures we have helped to conserve include the panda, polar bear, orangutan, gorilla, elephant, stork and many others. We hope to double the number of animals helped in the coming year.
